Day 1: South Valley Tour Cusco Itinerary

We begin with hotel pickup in Cusco (3,399 masl) at 8:30 am. First, we drive about 40 minutes to Tipon (3,560 masl), an Inca site. Here, the guide leads us through the main plaza, the farming terraces, and the impressive stone irrigation channels. From Tipon, we continue to Pikillacta (3,250 masl), a fortified city of the Wari civilization. Its tall buildings date back to about 600 to 900 AD, long before the Incas arrived. We end at Andahuaylillas (3,122 masl), a colonial village famous for its church with seventeenth-century murals. Many call it the Sistine Chapel of America. On the way back to Cusco, you can stop to try chicharrón or guinea pig. We arrive back at your hotel by about 3:00 pm.
