Day 1: Rainbow Mountain Day Trip from Cusco Itinerary

We begin with hotel pickup in Cusco (3,399 masl) at 7:00 am. After a drive of about 2 hours through the South Valley, we reach Cusipata. Here we stop for a nutritious breakfast and a last chance to use proper restrooms. From Cusipata, we drive another hour to the community of Phulawasipata (4,600 masl), where the hike starts. Along the trail, you see herds of alpacas and llamas and typical Andean scenery. You also get views of Ausangate Mountain, red-colored peaks, and green valleys. After a hike of about 1.5 hours, we reach Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain, at 5,036 masl. Here you have free time to take photographs. Then we descend along the same trail to our vehicle and drive back to Cusco.
