You can begin your Maras and Moray tour from Cusco or Urubamba. Traveling in a private vehicle with a local English-speaking guide, you control the flow of the day.
The route focuses on three significant locations. We stop in Chinchero, a high-altitude town recognized for its traditional Andean textile weaving and Inca ruins. You also visit the Maras salt mines, where thousands of ancient salt pans remain in active use by the local community. Afterward, explore Moray, an archaeological site featuring large circular terraces built for agricultural testing.
Because this is a fully private service, you never have to rush. You can spend extra time taking photos, asking questions, or observing local Andean culture. While lunch is not included, your guide will recommend reliable local restaurants based on your preferences. At the end of the trip, we provide direct drop-off at your hotel.

Day 1: Maras and Moray Private Tour Itinerary
Hotel Pickup 9:00 AM Your private guide and driver meet you at your hotel. If starting in Cusco, you begin at 3,399 m (11,152 ft). Travelers departing from Urubamba start lower at 2,871 m (9,420 ft). You board a comfortable, private vehicle and drive through the scenic Andean highlands.
Chinchero Village 9:50 AM We make our first stop in Chinchero, the highest point on this circuit at 3,762 m (12,342 ft). Here, local artisans demonstrate traditional textile weaving techniques dating back centuries. You also get a brief look at the surrounding Inca ruins before continuing the drive.
Moray Archaeological Site 11:15 AM Next, we reach Moray, sitting at an elevation of 3,500 m (11,483 ft). You walk along massive circular terraces that researchers believe served as an agricultural testing ground. The varying microclimates between terrace levels show how the Incas successfully adapted crops to different conditions.
Maras Salt Mines 12:30 PM A short drive brings us to the Maras salt mines, located at 3,200 m (10,500 ft). Thousands of shallow pools cascade down the mountainside, capturing saline spring water. Local families still harvest this mineral by hand using pre-Hispanic methods.
Return Transfer 1:30 PM After finishing the circuit, you relax in your private vehicle. We provide direct drop-off back to your original hotel by 2:30 PM. This leaves your afternoon completely free for a late lunch or further exploration.
