Itinerary
Day 1: Maras, Moray and Chinchero Tour Itinerary
This private tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco at 8:00 am and head first to Chinchero (3,762 masl). There, a weaving demonstration shows how local artisans turn alpaca and sheep's wool into fine fabrics. Afterward, we visit the archaeological site itself.
From Chinchero, we continue to Moray (3,500 masl), the ancient agricultural laboratory of the Incas. It has four circular depressions, and experts believe the Incas used them to test crops across different microclimates.
We then take a scenic drive to the Maras salt mines (3,380 masl). Here, a nearby saline spring still feeds pools of many sizes and shapes built into the hillside. Finally, we drive you back to your hotel in Cusco. You can also choose a drop-off at the Ollantaytambo train station for an additional cost.
