Itinerary

Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour from Ollantaytambo Itinerary

We begin with hotel pickup in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba (2,846 masl) at 8:00 am. First, we take a guided visit through Ollantaytambo's temples, aqueducts, and granaries. Then a scenic drive climbs out of the valley toward the Andean plateau. From there, we continue to Moray (3,500 masl), where the Incas probably used four circular depressions as an agricultural experiment site. Next, we visit the Maras salt pans (3,380 masl). Here, spring salty water still fills more than four thousand pools on the hillside. We then head to the Andean village of Chinchero (3,762 masl) for a weaving demonstration. Local weavers show how they cut, spin, and dye llama and alpaca fiber. We also visit the Inca palace remains and the sixteenth-century colonial church. Finally, we drive to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
