Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1 of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour

We begin the day at a sanctuary for Andean camelids, where you can see and feed llamas and alpacas. Next, we stop at an Andean textile center that preserves traditional Inca weaving techniques. Then we head toward the Sacred Valley. At Pisac (2,972 masl), we take a lively guided tour through temples and farming terraces. Then a scenic route takes us to Urubamba (2,871 masl) for lunch. Afterward, we visit Ollantaytambo (2,846 masl), an Inca site that guarded the entrance to this part of the valley. Here you can stroll along centuries-old cobbled streets. From Ollantaytambo, we board the train for a 1 hour and 45 minute ride through varied Andean landscapes to Aguas Calientes (2,040 masl). There, you check in at your hotel and get a briefing for the next day's visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 2: Day 2 of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour

Our second day begins early with a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the citadel of Machu Picchu (2,430 masl). After we show the entrance tickets, the guided tour begins. We walk through temples, palaces, and buildings that reveal the skill of Inca architecture. Throughout the visit, we explain the history, archaeology, religion, and daily life of the Incas. We pass through the sanctuary's key sectors and leave time for reflection and photographs. After the tour, we take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own. Then the train takes you to Ollantaytambo, and our private vehicle drives you back to your hotel in Cusco (3,399 masl).
