Day 1: Ollantaytambo – Moray – Maras – Chinchero – Cusco

We begin with hotel pickup in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba (2,846 masl) at 8:00 am, starting with a guided visit through Ollantaytambo's temples, aqueducts, and granaries before setting off on a scenic drive that climbs out of the valley toward the Andean plateau. From there, we continue to Moray (3,500 masl), composed of four circular depressions believed to have been used by the Incas as an agricultural experimentation site, followed by the Maras salt pans (3,380 masl), where more than four thousand pools filled with spring salty water remain active on the hillside. We then head to the Andean village of Chinchero (3,762 masl) for a weaving demonstration showing traditional techniques used to cut, spin, and dye llama and alpaca fiber, along with a visit to the Inca palace remains and the sixteenth-century colonial church, before concluding with a transfer to Cusco and drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
