The 2-day Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu begins with a pick up from your Cusco or Ollantaytambo hotels. We will leave Cusco at 5:00 am to travel in our private vehicle to the train station of Ollantaytambo. Our train journey takes us on a very picturesque route for one hour until we reach kilometer 104 or trail head.
Our Short Inca Trail will show you first the Inca site of Chachabamba. Here, you will enjoy the impressive landscapes as you listen our guides information. At this point, the short Inca trail goes up for about 3 hours and reaches Wiñay Huayna (8792 ft.). You and your guide will explore the Inca site and enjoy the quiet environment of this wonderful place. Also, at this place you join the 4-day classic Inca Trail that starts at km 82.
The Short Inca Trail 2 days will pass through Inti Punku’ (‘Sun gate’) (8792 ft.). From here you will have the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu and surrounding mountains. After some pictures, we will descend the last part of the trail towards the ancient Inca city. On this day, we walk through Machu Picchu and finish the day going down to Aguas Calientes and rest.
Today, our 2 day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu allows you to see the world wonder for second time. The bus will take us up to Machu Picchu for 25 minutes. Once there, you will show the Inca trail and Machu Picchu tickets and visit the entire inca city for 2 hours. After that, also, those that booked the Huayna Picchu tickets can climb on their own. From here, you must control your time and take the bus down.
Upon arrival, you will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes for lunch and take the train back to Cusco. The train usually leaves at 3:55 pm, and you will arrive in Cusco around 8:45 pm.
